Michael Birnbaum speaks Spanish and French and has practised largely on behalf of immigrants since 1985, in immigration, personal injury, civil litigation, matrimonial and criminal law. Michael was the Canadian Bar Association South Alberta Immigration Sub-Section Chair for 1996-98. In 2003 he won a $100,000 soft tissue jury award, then a record for Alberta. In 2015 he won a landmark case on soft tissue injury and chronic pain, Maclean v. Parmar et al. He has served as Dispute Resolution Officer (compulsory matrimonial mediation at the Court of Queen’s Bench since 2007.
