Landlord issue

Brittany Abbott (stony plain )

dates.: I have recently been threatened by my landlord with eviction because my partner is sick and is now in treatment and my landlord is still trying to kick us out without notice. There has been no written notice, he has just said over text that he wants us out asap. He is now showing the house to other tenants and hasn’t given us anytime to find a place of our own, which we are doing, we have been approved for a mortgage and currently looking at houses. We are both trying very hard to get out of the toxic environment but buying a house takes time. What are my options? I’m just not sure what to do at this point, I’m honestly scared that I’m going to go home one day and my stuff will be thrown out of the house.

He had also said to me that he didn’t want us living there because he didn’t want my partner to die in the house and devalue his property.

Any help would be more then appreciated.

Eviction is not a process that the landlord can do without going through a process. However, many more details are needed.

What sort of a lease do you currently have? Is it written or verbal?
Is the landlord alleging a breach? (e.g. noise, non-payment of rent, etc.)?

The landlord is not able to evict on the basis of illness alone and this may even be a human rights issue. However, it is difficult to determine without further detail.
