Grant of Administration

Daniel Choy (Calgary)

Deceased was single, Calgary resident without a will. Parent of deceased is 95, BC resident, and speaks no English. Oldest sibling is also BC resident.

My spouse is also a sibling of deceased and a Calgary resident. Can she apply for Grant of Administration through Surrogate Digital Service without parent/oldest sibling having to nominate her or renounce their intention to apply?

No, your spouse will require the living parent and sibling's sigantures on Form GA11 (renunciation). They can also sign Form GA13 (nomination), which will help expedite the application.
